Cassidy Elementary among 2023 National Blue Ribbon Schools

The U.S. Department of Education has selected Cassidy Elementary as a 2023 National Blue Ribbon School. It is one of seven honorees in Kentucky and 353 total this year.

“This prestigious recognition not only acknowledges our commitment to providing a high-quality education but also highlights our ongoing efforts to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment,” Principal Jill Hill said after the Sept. 19 announcement. “It reflects the dedication of our outstanding educators, the enthusiasm of our students, and the support of our parents and community members, and it serves as a reminder that when we work together with a shared vision and unwavering determination, we can achieve remarkable outcomes in education.”

The award is based on a school’s overall academic performance or progress in closing achievement gaps among student groups on assessments. Cassidy was designated an Exemplary High-Performing School. Hill said this validation will inspire Cassidy to keep innovating, improving, and ensuring that every student can thrive academically and personally. “This achievement not only celebrates our past successes but also signals our commitment to the future,” she said.

In its four-decade history, the National Blue Ribbon Schools program has become a trademark of excellence. Past honorees from Fayette County Public Schools include Rosa Parks Elementary (2021 and 2012), Dixie Magnet Elementary (2010), Glendover Elementary (2013), SCAPA at Bluegrass (2015), Southern Elementary (1990), and Veterans Park Elementary (2008).
